G'day, I'm the new guy.

Hi

Recently found this site. I post a little over at the Latts and Atts site, or I used to. This one seems more boat/sailing/cruising focused and a lot less BS.

I grew up in Airlie Beach, a mainland tourist town near the famous Whitsunday archaeopeligo. I am up to my third cruising boat and it is my first cat, a Wharram Pahi 42. I sail up and down the Queensland coast as much as I can, one of the best cruising grounds in the world, inside the Great Barrier Reef and dotted with hundreds of island anchorages. In 8 weeks I am off on a 6 week cruise from Brisbane back up to my home waters then back to Brisbane against the prevailing winds. I enjoy taking pics of my cruising and sharing them with others. It was pics like this and the books by Dr Darid Lewis and Dr Gavin Le Seur that motivated me to really get into cruising.

I'd love to hear from any other Wharram owners.

Here is a link to a few pics of my last long cruise up to Fraser Island, the worlds largest sand island, where unfortunately the dingoes have killed a few children and and at least one adult tourist over the years.

You are a lucky man. It doesn't get any better than cruising up and down the Queensland coast in a catamaran. I wish Exit Only - Privilege 39 Cat -was back in Queensland. We were in OZ for several years, and it made me sad when we moved on to complete our circumnavigation. Maybe some day we will get a retirement visa and spend more time cruising the Queensland coast.

Good on you mate!

Aloha Bill,
Welcome aboard!! Our club has a Wharram 23 which I've taken out a few times. Great little boat. Sails much differently than all the monohulls I've sailed in the past.
Kind Regards,
JohnL
