Hi I'm a wannta-be liveaboard person. Looking for the right vessel but decisions are hard when you live 90 miles from good cruising grounds. Been thinking houseboat but would rather own a blue water cruising sailboat. Have friends in Honduras and Bonaire who live there and would like to sail there when I finally retire in five years.....

If I recall, you asked about a house boat deal a while back. If your ambitions are to cruise, save your money. It is really easy to get financially married to a boat, so it may as well be one that will take you where you want to go. Living on a cruising boat is very practical (although it does have a few downsides). Sailing on the great lakes, is from what I have been told, a great way to learn, and prepare for cruising. With your future plans, I would skip the houseboat idea all together.
