Smile Flight of the Kestrel!

Hello,
My name is Alyssa and I am a 22 year old recent BAC graduate. This spring I bought Kestrel, my Irwin 23 and have been learning to sail all summer. My boyfriend Andy and I will be moving on to a Catalina 27 in about a month and sailing from Jacksonville to Key West. I had googled that phrase and was directed to this site, so I decided to join. If anyone is down around that area and would like to jump on board and crew with us for a few days please let me know! We are up for any and everything but may need a hand or two getting there. We hail from the Sandusky Sailing Club in Ohio and have been very lucky to have such helpful and talented sailors to learn from. We love adventures and meeting new people and plan to do a lot of the two in the next few months.

I've noticed a lot of people have signatures, I'll pretend like mine for now is... "Coulda, Shoulda, Woulda..." Andy always says that in reply to my regrets, so we're making sure we don't turn into retirees and sitting around saying that!

Aloha and welcome aboard!
Good for you folks. Wish I could hop aboard and help you sail your Catalina. I think they are a great boat.
I used to instruct a course in the Navy called Cross Cultural Communications and did a lot of research to write the course originally. Of course that was about 35 years ago so I'm certain there have been many more books written on the subject.
kind regards,

Re: Flight of the Kestrel!

My 'focus' is in Intercultural Comm. so I did a lot of courses about international comm, intercultural domestic, intercultural business comm, and of course ethics. We had to learn how to do proper communication studies publications divided by school of thought. It was really interesting and I have a Spanish minor so I did some writing about the convergence of languages here in the U.S. compared to Madrid, where I studied abroad. I'd like to find a job in the field eventually, for now I free lance photos for the local paper and am about to travel for a bit so I've been avoiding a 'big girl' job!
