First timer posting.... Jolly-Roger
Ahoy to all of you,
Introducing myself to all of you. My name is Roger, hence the name of my 37' Hunter John Cherubini design is: Jolly-Roger.
Home port is Indian Harbor Beach Florida... I have had this boat since the Ides of March last year, and throughly enjoy it. I have had one other sail boat before, a 26' vessel that was nothing like this one. I am currently working on some cockpit enhancements, chainplates, and basic understanding of exactly what I have here. This is 1984 model, and as you all know things grow old and break, and in my past life I was a mechanical engineer, so I feel somewhat capable of fixing the easy stuff.
Anyhow good morning to you all, regards, Roger.

Welcome aboard J Roger:
You have some pretty nice crusing grounds there. Good luck with refitting your boat. I am in process of refitting a 41' boat. Watching the money burn thru. I have chartered in Florida twice once out of Punta Gorda and the other time out of Islamorada in the Keys (or as my kids like to say the Real Florida) Where is Indian Harbor Beach?

Welcome JR! And Charlie, I agree, Islamorada is special, (Key Largo was a big disappointment) Best of luck on the refit! Must admit curious about Indian Harbor also!

Where, you ask, is Indian Harbor Beach....
Ind Har Bch is located in the Melbourne area.... East of Orlando by 60 miles...
This is the mouth of the Banana River that goes to Kennedy Space Center. The Banana joins the Indian River at Melbourne... Melbourne is the "Harbor City"...... Although it seems that the Marina's are disappearing, or being displaced with Condos....
Oh by the way, these are not really rivers, they are Estuarys, brakish water, fed by inland streams, springs, and inlets to the Atlantic, that gives these bodies of water slight tidal movement, depending how close or far you are from the inlets...
Kind of rambled didn't I???

Is the concrete Dragon still guarding her offspring and the harbor, I pulled into there some years back delivering a boat, Nice marina and a short walk for some provisions, Pizza near the intersection wasn't bad either.

The dragon fell apart quite a few years ago.

Welcome Roger, I live in your area too. Are you familiar with the East Coast Sailing Association. I'm a member. They are a nice group to sail with. They have regular outings/picnics to sail to. Also, they organize a group of boats to sail together to the Bahamas just about every year. See: East Coast Sailing Association | Come Sail With Us

You are in a great area for sailing. I lived in Melbourne and Rockledge for more than 20 years and used Diamond 99 as my primary marina after moving the boat out of the Patrick AFB Marina where my partner had it in a slip.
Loved to run my 26' Chrysler sloop between Titusville and Melbourne when the winds were up but spend most of my time between 520 and the Melbourne causeway. Do the subs still pop up for training at the Cape? Scared the hell out of me one afternoon when I was heading into the Barge Canal. Think it was a British Sub, that surfaced a good way behind me and passed me in no time and all boat traffic was held while it made its berth in the turning basin.
Welcome to the group, looking forward to your post and keep us up on the goings on in the area.
