Welcome Lass!

This place is easier than swimming in a shark tank at feedin' time.

Well, she has joined the Bucketeer Squadron!

Maybe a steamy story will come next?

Re: First time

Dsmastern, thanks. My buckets and I are honoured to be invited to join the squadron.

Bluewaters, thank you for your welcome.

Khagan, I feel a little like I'm being thrown to them already

Carsten, just had a peek at that, now I know what has attracted the thirteen year olds to this forum .
Surprised the Mods haven't slapped an X rating on that thread!

Re: First time

The Baroness wrote under several nom de plumes. Fiesty lady.
I liked her salty quote.

Yes, she had a steamy life. She wasn't very discreet when it came to her buckets

Re: First time

Where are you located......

Few people actually blixen today. Fewer realize that hemmingway said she should have won the nobel prize instead of him......

I've been in the Med the last few years, Greece currently.

Blixen was a beautiful writer (and she was actually a very discreet lady, she wrote about absolutely none of her bucket experiences ). Lots of the analogies she uses are sea or sailing related. Hemingway wasn't the only one who thought she should have received an Nobel prize.

I am so enjoying catching up on all the books I wish I had the chance to read decades ago. One of the great joys of sailing (and Kindles!).

She is a 47 foot, custom designed, 1998 build.

Temp is still in the mid 20's here in Greece. Just had a twelve hour passage and sitting relaxing with bubbly and an omelette after a swim.

Noticed a thread here by someone, titled "Are you happy" (he is playing with fire LOL, about to have his knuckles wrapped for not posting the title all in capitals).
Hmmmmm, let me think. No, I can't honestly say I feel miserable. Although was it Hemingway who said something about happiness in intelligent people being rare? Must make me very happily thick as two planks LOL .

Re: First time

Well hemingway was a great writer, but not always right in everything he said.

Not at all jealous of your swim and the 20 something degrees (sigh).

Well at least we don't have to worry about getting a sunburn up here )

Re: First time

Aloha and welcome aboard!
Good to have you posting on the forum.
The definition of yacht seems to be different in different countries. It's been discussed many times here on the forum.
My definition has always been, "any vessel used for recreational purposes." So, I owned an 8 foot sailing yacht many years ago that got a few laughs when I described it.
kind regards,

Re: First time

Thanks for the welcome SkiprJohn, Zee and Tingum.

It is actually really nice to be welcomed . I can understand why responses are sometimes lean when people first introduce themselves. I had a quick look at the number of members here. It is around 92,000 and at a quick glance at least 95% end up having less than 10 posts!

Hope to become part of the community and contribute a little. I have gained so much reading the threads here (and had lots of entertainment too , great forum).
