First Post, Hello) Q. Where to Register ? please help

Hello everyone , my first post on this site.

I am a Australian in Florida at the moment (Feb 2019 ) , and I have put a offer on a 30ft Hunter sail boat .

My intentions are to take it to the Bahamas until late May 2019 then store it on the hard either in the Bahamas , or back in Florida for hurricane season.

I will be paying around $25000 USD for the yacht. I plan to sell it again one day(2-3 years time ) in the USA or Caribbean.

My question is where should I register it , if I register it in Florida I will pay the 6% sales tax , not a big deal I guess , or should I register it in Australia ?

Will there be any problems sailing a USA registered yacht as a Australian?

Thanks for any replies , I realise this question has probably been asked before , I have been searching the forums , any information would be greatly appreciated.

Regards
Brian

If you intend just doing Bahamas/US just register it in FL. Fly US flag. No problem with Aussie skipper, no need for cruising permit. Simplest solution.

Thanks for the reply Vasco.

I will more than likely register it in Florida.

Has anyone registered a USA boat in Australia? If I take it out of the USA within 90 days , I don't have to pay the 6% sales tax.

Is it a big expense ? Does it take a long time dealing with government departments ?
I am asking just in case this above deal does not go through , and I decide on a more expensive yacht I expected just recently.
