Finally Introducing Myself

Okay, so I've been a member of this forum for over a year but since I had little to share, being a novice, I never took the time to introduce myself.

So i'll fix that now. Ray Ebert from San Diego, CA.

I got bit by a serious sailing bug last summer after my father-in-law was prepping for the Pacific Cup from SF to HI. I went nuts on the internet and found this place along with a couple hundred other websites... I think I literally went through every link on sailblogs...

I joined a sailing club last January and have since gotten my ASA-101 and ASA-103 certifications. I'm planning on the ASA-104 in October and then trips to Catalina and the Caribbean should eventually follow.

I'm not (financially) ready for my own boat just yet so my family (9mo daughter, 12yo son, and a beautiful wife) and I sail San Diego bay, and the coast in short intervals for now. I'm certain my own sail boat is in my future at some point...

I have aspirations to sail over the horizon some day but for now I'm learning and thoroughly enjoying our beautiful bay and coastline here.

So thats my story...

Hi Ray - welcome aboard from a fellow San Diegan! This forum definitely has more consistently useful info than most and a huge amount of experience to call on.

I'll see you out on the water sometime

Aloha Ray,
Welcome aboard! I'm a former San Diego sailor too. '69-'81. Most of my sailing was in the bay down south near Coronado but occasionally had fun going out towards the island.
Kind regards,
