I'm about to move to my boat in Mexico having decided to retire young after a fruitful career of pickpocketing the innocent upon the Tozai-Sen. Will be looking for crew eventually.
I know nothing about boats, so this will be quite an interesting change of scene!

Welcome aboard!! There are many of us who have a preference for one boatbuilding material over another. I've owned wood and plastic and like both but each has its place. Never owned ferro but know others who swear by them. The only one I ever had contact with was one that had to be bulldozed because it never got put together right.
A friend here on the Big Island used to build them in California and he really likes them.

'Sensitive'? I rather call it being 'selective'. Just because I have a boat doesn't mean I have to put up with morons.

Hi John,
In my opinion, all boats are great. However, having a ferro does somewhat result in being the butt of more 'jokes' like, 'cement? ha, it'll sink' and 'wouldn't touch ferro with a barge pole'.
But I do love my boat.

I have a friend with a ferro boat. His argument is , find a good one, buy it for a fraction of the price of a plastic comparable, sail it using the left over funds invested to provide income, sell it when you are finished with far less loss due to depreciation. Hard to fault the logic.
