As for your comment about Canadians telling poor little Americans what you should do with your borders, well... I guess we're just learning from our American friends who do this so well and so often ;-)

"poor little Americans"...there you go again Mike. You wear that chip on your shoulder with great pride.

Would it be safe to assume that you work for a health insurance company?
Perhaps you should consider that if health care were affordable then the "bums and freeloaders" would not be such a burden to you "payers".

As for how many Canada lets in, that's Canada's business. My concern is with the totally open US border and all the criminals and terrorists who are flowing across it.

Maybe Canada just needs a few more heads lopped off, throats cut, a little Sharia law to get with the program.
I was unaware the US had a totally open border anywhere. As one who crosses the northern border (in fact, am doing so almost as I type), I can tell you it's far from "totally open." But I infer you're taking your direction from Trump on this issue, so carry on living in fear.

BTW, I only mentioned Canada's commitment to take 25,000 refugees b/c you suggested Canada do so:

I was responding with the same tone as my friend Canibul. Sorry if that wasn't obvious. As for my chip, I can't see it. Please explain to me what chip I have.

I would NOT assume he works for an insurance carrier. He is just very conservative.

What about the "1/2 pay" figure? I think there is a lot of truth in that, folks that can pay but know the hospital will cover it if they do not.

I am conservative...I am also liberal, and moderate...

I am quite leery of any statistics being thrown around; but my point is that if health care in this country were not so outrageously expensive many of these "freeloader" problems would not exist. For profit insurance, to me at least, has no place in health care. Just an opinion...

A common thread in many of your comments is condescension toward others...as for your chip, if you could see it, perhaps you would rethink some of your comments. I'm sure you are a nice person...

I tend to respond in kind, although I sometimes regret getting pulled down into the mud. I do react to hypocrisy when I see it, and have a hard time with willful ignorance, but I am pretty darn respectful most of the time. Perhaps you can point out all these condescending responses.

BTW, It does seem odd that you feel able to pass this judgement about me given how little you post here.

I wonder what background check the Canadians will be doing on these Syrians? And how soon before they can freely travel into the USA?

I tend to keep my mouth shut, eyes and ears open...are there a required number of posts in order to be relevant?

I won't engage in a long meaningless exchange, but if you don't want to be "pulled down into the mud" why make comments about an entire group of people as "poor little Americans"? It simply makes you sound arrogant.

I'm not passing judgement, simply hoping to help you understand how terrible many Americans feel about how we are perceived by so many of our dear
Canadian friends. In the spirit of our good relations...

My concern is with the totally open US border and all the criminals and terrorists who are flowing across it.
I have friends in Syria who would agree with the 'clean up their own country' sentiment. But since "we" won't leave the region alone but keep getting involved because we want to protect our interests, it's never going to happen.
We're part of the problem, and -at least imho- we should therefor also be part of the solution for the Syrian people who have had to flee.

As to all the criminals and terrorists: I guess each country has enough of those already; it's not like there would be no crime if there weren't any refugees. And not all refugees are criminals or terrorists - meaning they're human beings like the rest of us, which means most are harmless, but some are far from.

The main problem here (but also France, Germany etc.) are the home grown ones. And those include 'regular Dutch folks'. Even our army seems to have a problem keeping their men on our side.

Why does that happen? I think that's the most important question. What is it that makes people hate so much they're willing to kill others for their believes? Regardless if those believes are based on whatever religion or not. I mean, we have people killing people because they are pro-life and feel the need to kill people who aren't ... Tell me how that makes any sense.

There was a protest here in a Dutch town that wanted to house Syrian refugees. A lot of the locals didn't want that, because "they're all murderers and rapists, and we want to protect our wives and daughters". One of the women they wanted to protect disagreed and stood up to say so. So all the men got up and start chanting "she needs a d**k in her" over and over. They wouldn't stop, and in their minds it makes perfect sense to object to refugees to protect their women - but when those same women disagree, they all cheer loudly for her to be raped into seeing it their way. Yeah, just "decent folk" looking out for their families ...

Some times, running (or flying, I guess) off with a Martian seems like a good idea

Ummmm.... The Muslim religion allows a man up to four (4) wives, and he must treat them all equally in every respect.

Four houses {or sailboats } could be quite expensive.
Plus birthday presents, and etc.
And FOUR mother's in law!
Oy Vey !!!

I'm a Canadian. I love America. There are things about America (and things about Canada for that matter) that I don't love. Donald Trump is one of them. I hope you vote him into oblivion before he really makes history in the worst possible way.

But if he did get elected? I still love you all, just not him!

The great thing about real democracy is everybody gets to vote. The sad thing about democracy is everybody (EVERYBODY!!) gets to vote!

I bought my current boat in Victoria from S.A.L.T.S. almost 20 years ago...Victoria is such a cool city, and the people are wonderful!

If Trump gets elected [no way!] I will get a slip in front of the Empress and quietly get old there! And I'm 65 now!

Oh Canada!

Peace to you friend...
