Caribbean Beginner

My wife and I just bought a 1972 CheoyLee Offshore 33 to give us something to do in our spare time. We live in Anguilla and keep the boat in St. Martin, in Simpson Bay. It's our first sailboat and we are smitten.
The boat is in lovely condition, the owner was about to sail it to Canada when we showed up, and he had kept it very well.
We're still getting used to the boat, but so far our sails have been fun and exciting. A couple of squalls made for white knuckles.
Our overnight stays have been fun, we sleep better on the boat than on land, but the land keeps moving after we get off.
St. Martin is the most amazing place for a boat, so many places are reachable by dingy. We are about to sail to St. Kitts to haul to boat for the season.
We will appreciate any advice we receive, this forum is going to be our main source for information and advice. If you are in St. Martin or St. Kitts & Nevis when we are there, please give us a shout.
Chris & Jo-Anne Mason

Re: Caribbean Beginner

Good afternoon Chris & Jo-Anne and Welcome aboard the forum. My wife and I are currently living on the hook in Sandy Ground, Anguilla and enjoy SXM on a regular basis. Please share your haul out experience on St. Kits as I would be very interested. We will be sailing over in September to commission a Desalination system at the new Park Hyatt Resort in Banana Bay, St Kits. We are easy to get with on Anguilla as everybody knows us so please feel free to look us up in Sandy Ground, or stop by my office in South Hills. Look for TSG.

Patrick

Re: Caribbean Beginner

Never mind, I now see you said that. We were on the hook in Sandy Ground Saturday, right in front of the dock, next to the Calypso mooring. Motored to Sandy Island for lunch Sunday and sailed back to St. Martin Monday.

Re: Caribbean Beginner

We took the family to little bay yesterday, they had not been on the boat. It's was too windy to do a lot of sailing but everyone had a great time. And loved the boat. Good thing we got the sanitation hose changed the day before.
