pirate Cape Dory 36

Hello fellow cruisers. I’ve been sailing for about 40 years and boating all my life. My early years were spent on inland lakes in Michigan and Indiana. I started sailing keel boats on Lake Michigan with my new Bayfield 25 in 1975. After moving to the San Francisco Bay area in 1977, I upgraded to a Wright Allied 36 Ketch. My final and current cruising sailboat is Audrey, a Cape Dory 36. I took delivery of Audrey in San Dago in 1983 and she has been in my care ever since. Audrey is currently moored at my private dock on Bethel Island, California. I’ve had many wonderful cruises on Audrey including a two year round trip through the South Pacific.

Now it is time to release her to a new owner. I’m currently preparing her for the used boat market and will post her on this forum.

In the mean time I’m seeking suggestions on how to pick a broker in the San Francisco Bay area along with all of the other decisions such as; upgrading electronics, how much polishing and varnishing to do and where else to list her for sale. I am on the Cape Dory forum and plan to list her there.

If anyone is interested in making an “as is offer” I’m prepared to listen.

I’m looking forward to learning how this forum works and having many enjoyable discussions.

Re: Cape Dory 36

I’m still trying to find out what would be a reasonable price. The price range for comparable CD’s seems to be $60,000 to $90,000.
I would seriously consider any offer in that range.

Not sure if you're familiar with this site, its a total rebuild of a Cape Dory 36.

Thanks for the link. Just looking over it for a few minutes I can see it's going to take quite a bit of time to see all the work that's being done to that boat. He's been doing a fantastic job on that one.

Aloha and welcome aboard!
Good luck on your sale. My personal opinion is that it needs to be very clean and bright to sell at top dollar. Also, photos and videos can make a sale much quicker and easier if they look professional.
