Talbot - the list i used is a paper list that pam handed out - i do have mine in spreadsheet format - it is more than one spreadsheet as i have them so they can be printed out in 1 or 2 pages and we can put them in easy reach if we want to find something and do not want to turn the computer on - if i knew how i would post them just before we take off at the end of this month as i am still putting parts on the boat -
Moderator - any idea how i can post them??
thanks

If you have changed it to a spreadsheet and have a soft copy, you can just attach the file to a post (see box just below the submit reply place).

If it is paper only, the best is a scanned copy, or even a photo, added to the photo gallery, or sent direct to me and I will attach.

They are also rigged for light winds, which gives them great performance in light winds, but can create problems, especially when the hulls flex as well. This can lead to mast pumping and eventual rig failure. I know of one which ripped out the bow forestay fitting inmid atlantic. By great good fortune the skipper was able to get the genoa halyard and spinnaker halyard rigged as an emergency forestay and save the rig.

Given luck and great care there is no major problem, but dont push hard in bad weather.

Personally a bene is a nice boat, but it is a bit short of the correct number of hulls

What boat are you talking about??? I've never seen a bene with a flat bottom except the new attempt at cats I hear their doing in France but not the US ..or as I understand not in the US manufacture loop yet.

I've hit the Christmas Winds and seas head on in a Bene 36 attempting to make a Christmas Party in the outside and in SFD channel area of the US Virgins and BVI. I was making way while most cats were running for cover and only mono hulls were out, most bigger than my boat. I did have a fuel gunk problem develop but that is not structure related, just lack of a good flush for too many years.

While I would not care to run the Cape Horn in any boat including a Bene, for short of the 40/40 cruising it has prove to be a good boat. Thousands of them out and about every day with great track records. Not sure I would depend on a single boat report to brand thousands of others as bad. Have you ever sailed one?

My credentials - well I have been sailing and racing on a variety of different boats for 40+years, including bene's, bavaria, hurleys, sigmas, fastnet, jeanneau, catalacs, prouts, traders, etc etc etc etc

I draw your attention to my final paragraph
