Ray make good autopilots. If it's as I suspect. It is better to have a shear bolt In The system as the drive can destroy the quadrant otherwise. It's better that a cheap bolt fails rather then the arm locks up if the quadrant is damaged.

I have the exact same problem on my Beneteau Cyclades 50. I'm replacing the bolt/pin for the third time. After the second time, I was careful not to push the autopilot to hard, but still it broke gain. Every time it breaks the rudder drops and manual steering becomes extremely difficult. Is there a solution for this or should I sell the boat?

Not sure what you are trying to say--how can the rudder drop? Maybe the rudder somehow jams and that is what breaks the pin??
