When bamboo is immersed in sea water it " pickles " & lasts virtually forever .... it would need to remain immersed to retain it's pickled state ...

You'll need a bike for shore transit.

Really cool. Since living in Asia, I always wondered what the potential of bamboo might be in boat building. It grows incredibly quickly and seems quite durable for most applications.

How resistent to rot is it?

That's all fine and dandy until your boat gets eaten by sea pandas.

Sea Pandas. That got a laugh

Is that an incomplete steel hull shown on your site, also? Would love to hear the story on that one.

Sorry, I know this is an old post... but someone just relinked to it.

What a cool idea. I'd love to see some updates here to let us know how it went at sea after a couple of years

Looks like the boat was put in the water this past January, but no details at all on the blog. Just photos.

That is an amazing series of images on the blog. I had no idea bamboo grew to those dimensions.

Beautiful boat.

Hey Schooner

Saw your boat out there today under full sail. Got some really stunning shots of her.
Wow - from someone who is more catamaran mad, must admit she is truly magnificent!
