Author Here to do Some Research!

Hi everyone! Happy to have stumbled into this forum.

Although I did spend my first five years of life on a 40-ft sailboat, I am not currently a sailor. I'm an author (my debut novel will be released in 2013!) doing some research for the book I'm outlining right now. Part of the back story involves a yacht trip down the coast of California to either Mexico or South America. I want to get the details right so I am hoping to get some help from experienced hands on this forum!

Thanks to everyone in advance for your patience with my possibly nonsensical questions.

Re: Author here to do some research!

Welcome, Jo, and good luck with your research. I wish that more authors would pay some attention to technical details, whether relative to sailing or not, for the frequent clangers that slip by the editors really spoil things for me.

So, ask away with your nonsensical queries... CF can surely supply you with lots of nonsensical answers!

Cheers,

Jim

I would include a dog on the boat... or a monkey with an eye patch...

joNightshade, after a number of years doing deliveries from Alaska as far south as Costa Rica and many points between, I might be able to shed some light on some of the more controversial issues and areas you propose to write about. At least I can help ensure your story is factual. Some comments are not fit for a public forum, so PM me. Capt Phil

lol those rubber things you hang off the side of the boat are fenders not bumpers. I laugh at Randy Wayne White who was once fishing guide now author who get the two confused. Bumpers are affixed to docks.

Jo

We did sailed the Baja, Mexico and Sea of Cortez on 2010-2011 and logged just over 4000 nm. If you need information please contact us...
