I think they only made a 26ft aft cockpit. I'm sure all the 36ft were centre cockpit. If anyone knows anything about southcoast yachts we would love to hear from you.

There were several SC 36s made to the original flush deck aft cockpit style of the original Bruce Roberts plans. I believe that this was changed to the aft cabin design very early in the production period and because the hull mould was altered to take the new deck mould, no more aft cockpit style boats were made.
I've attached photos of the SC36 aft cockpit version. The difference from the Roberts 36 is the extended and raised deckhouse of the SC36.

I just bought one and take possession on Wednesday. Her fit out is basic but this provides opportunity for me to add my style with out tearing her apart. I was really impressed with her test sail last week and these boats have a huge amount of space. I will update once I get her. I will need to sail her from Sydney Harbour where she currently is to her new home in Kogarah.

Thank you ANN T, Kogarah Bay is in Botany Bay just south of Sydney Harbour.
Botany Bay has the two run ways in it from Sydney Airport.

Hi all,

We sailed an SC36 for several years with our friends (the owners). We were experienced sailors and took the boat further afield than they did, but many happy hours were spent in the Pittwater region. The boats sail well, have great storage and make a good cruising boat. We did many up-grades on the boat but my longest job was making a shade/rain cover for the cockpit. Being a centre cockpit design on a ketch meant many stays and it was a work of art when finished. Still easy to erect, and made the living area greater on those very hot days.

We finally purchased our own yacht and so our SC36 days became limited but we have many happy memories of being aboard.

Hi guys. I have an old sailing review book from 1981 and it reviews the SC 36 in ketch rig. If this is of any interest to the members of this group I can get it scanned and posted on here as a link or something.

Spent last Saturday out in Botany Bay dodging lighting and seeing how she performed in high winds.
I looked around and thought a turtle with a periscope was following me and realised that my inflatable had over turned with me new outboard playing periscope. GGRRR

She I then spent the next half hour practising my man overboard skills in fishing the fuel tank and the Gerry can out of the bay. Lost a brand new PDF1, of course that was still in the bag in the bottom of the dinghy instead of on my back and the dinghy seat.

The SC36 handled the seas and high winds beautifully. and was responsive in the confused seas around the base of Captain Cook Bridge. I am still confused as to why I was out there?

Hello ladies and gentlemen South Coast 36 owners. Have been hunting around for a yacht in the 36ft range and keep coming back to the SC36.

I have not actually set foot on one but will this week I hope.

I am curious about how well they sail, or are they more in the motor category of motor sailor?

An experience sailor acquaintance, who has owned a variety of yachts in his time seemed to think so, but he has not owned one.

All replies will be very much appreciated.

I have just purchased a South Coast 36,

I have not yet sailed her, but am looking forward to it, will be heading off cruising mid July. I will be sure to post up on here how she go's.

As far as being a sailing boat or motor sailor, I think her appearance is as close as you can get a sailing boat, to a motor sailor, with out crossing the line.

I love the full keel which only draw 1.4m, and the high freeboard which creates plenty of headroom and storage space down below.

I think it is the high freeboard & centre cockpit, combined with a solid dodger, that gives people the impression of a motor sailor.
