Another One Buys a Boat

Hello from Vancouver, BC!

Through my friend's wine-induced auction bidding indiscretion, and subsequent marriage-complicating consequences after his purchase, I am now a proud owner of a small sailboat at little to no cost. I have sailed a bit in the past, but have never owned a sailboat before; looking forward to keeping my hands busy.

Thanks for the wealth of info everybody!

Congratulations! Where will you be moored at? We're out a Reed Point in Port Moody.

Welcome to some beautiful cruising grounds.

Ha ha, sounds like you did all right with that deal! Welcome to CF, you will be amazed at what you can learn here, witness the odd good spat, and find many a chuckle.

Welcome to CF. The winds are good out in the strait today, that fog seems to have cleared I think I might go out. It looks pretty grey over your side but here there's some blue above.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys! The boat's in Everett at the moment, and the marina is paid up till February, so we'll be sailing her up sometime late Jan. Don't know where to keep her yet -- reed point is kind of far from where we live, and false creek wait lists are not moving much. Perhaps English Bay, by kits beach, another friend of mine has a 50-pound anchor and a bunch of chain I can borrow...

Aloha and welcome aboard!
Congratulations! I like the "little to no cost" price. My kind of purchase. A 50lb anchor and lots of chain ought to be enough for a nearly permanent mooring.
kind regards,
