Another New Guy, from Jacksonville, FL...

Hi everyone. Well, I'm from Jacksonville, FL. I'm still very new to sailing but would like to get involved. Right now I'm deployed so I can only torture myself with looking at sailboats and reading this forum pretty much all day, but I'll be back in early November and will hopefully take come sailing courses and buy myself a boat to start the fun. If anyone feels like being generous and taking me under their wing then that would be great. Well, looking forward to reading the posts.

Tons of information here, and tons of knowledge for questions. We are down in Green Cove, and sometime this fall wew ill have a gathering of members. Check out events for N.E. Florida Fall Ball. It will be a good chance to meet folks too if the timing is right.......i2f

SAILING is not always a slick magazine cover!

I'm looking for information on sailing opportunities around Jacksonville. We are planning to trailer our boat to Jacksonville in February or March 2010. Re: St. Johns river-Is there a lot of commercial ship traffic that would be a negative to sailing?

Can you recommend a marina located close to the main body of water near Jax? We will probably need a slip for a week.
