Another Miami Person

Hello, all. I joined the forum last week, but I guess I never got around to introducing myself. My husband and I have been living aboard, on and off, for a little more than 20 years; we cruised for about half that time and love it. When we sold our first boat and had to move back to a house, it was probably the most difficult adjustment we've ever made. We couldn't wait to get back aboard and out there again... so here we are, getting ready to drop the lines some time this year and head out one more time.

If anyone is in town or going to be here for the boat show next week, give us a toot.

Aloha Loree,
Welcome aboard! Good to have you here and posting on the forum. I keep seeing ads for interesting boats at good prices down your way and am almost tempted to come take a look at some of them.
Kind regards,
JohnL

Aloha John,
Thanks for the warm welcome! The boat show is next week so now would be a good time, but I do recognize you're not exactly around the corner!

Hawaii is on our list of ports of call, so perhaps we'll meet one day.

Hola Starfish,
We froze our patooties off last night! Refused to get out of bed this morning until the cabin warmed up to something north of 45 degrees. Seems like tonight is going to be an instant replay of last night. BRRRRRRR.

Are you coming to the boat show?

It was too cold last nite!!!! Time to get a really big dog or bottle of rum! At least the sun came out. We have a neighbor on a Shannon 50 who complained that his heat dried out his sinuses!

We haven't decided whether to go to the boat show. We probably will.

Welcome aboard Loree.

I got a question for ya Florida folk: how are liveaboard rates down your way? I may have a job opportunity in the Homestead area, and was looking for a nice liveaboard slip between south Miami and Key Largo.

Cheers

Bill

Thumbs up live aboard in the keys

I have a friend who is in Marathon at a state run marina. very nice. Well sheltered tie outs for under $3oo.oo a month. Nice shore facilities.

We're in Miami (NE 69th St) and the rates are much higher here. For the most part, if you're in a marina you're going to be hit with $20 foot +/-. We got lucky. We're at the Palm Bay Club Marina (Premiere Miami Marina: Palm Bay Club and Marina, luxury, waterfront condominiums and 50-slip marina on Biscayne Bay, Miami, Florida.) and pay less and we have security, a beautiful pool, and a gym included in the fees.

I worked in Homestead and it's about a 45 minute drive. Since I was going away from the city, traffic was alway light unless there was an accident.

Good Luck
