...and I am hooked.

Hello all,

I have been digging around these forums for a little over a year now and I just thought I would drop a line saying that I have pruchased my first cruiser!!

Its a Grampian 26'. an older boat, but it was taken care of over the years and is in great shape. Plus, it is a boat that will let me hone my skills here in the great lake. I am buying it out of Buffalo NY and will be sailing it to its new home in Toronto, ON. I am very very excited!!.

But, there is much planning that I am all over for the moment. Especially since this will be my first voyage on the boat, i am going to dedicate sometime to learn how the boat feels before I sail it u through the locks and onward to Toronto.

Thanks again guys for all the help n support over the past year. I will definitely post up some pictures once I have it.

Aloha Capt D,
Welcome aboard!! Good to have you here. I'd like to hear about your Grampian. I don't know much about them because I've sailed mostly on the left coast and in Hawaii. We don't see many of them here.
Kind Regards,
JohnL

Designed by Alex McGruer, the 26 was Grampian’s most successful model, with over a thousand built between 1966 & 1977.

Some great Grampian information:

SkiprJohn,

GordMay pulled an excellent site. When i was reading about this boat, that was one of the main sites I turned to. Great little boat, I must say.

I am plotting my trip from Buffalo NY to Toronto for the weekend of June 14th. It will be alot of firsts for me: first anchoraging, first run through a canal (have to take the Welland Canal between Lake Erie and Lake Ontario) and then eventually, to cross lake Ontario to Toronto. I am completely excited about it.

But, on that same note, as me being the capt of this boat, i need to learn quite quite abit. So I have been reading and researching quite abit.

Thanks everyone for the welcomes.
