Aloha - Introduction

Hey all,

I thought I'd post here and say hello. I haven't met a friendlier group of people than boaters. So instead of just jumping in I figured I'd post a little info.

Don't hate me, but I'm cruising on a 44' Sea Ray with twin cats. I think this is primarily a sail-boaters forum. But, I'm a guy that just loves being out on the water.

My sailing days started on Sunfishes and later I became a windsurfing instructor. Moved on to larger power boats, Gulfstars, Morgans, etc... But it's been awhile since I've done any real sailing.

So, instead of jumping back into sailing I picked up a Sundancer to get my sea legs again.

She's new to me and I'm provisioning her to cruise her down the ICW and spend the winter in the Keys (with stops elsewhere).

So, hello and Aloha (Born in Hawaii and I still consider it home)!

Aloha and welcome aboard from the Hilo side!
Good to have you here. We've got lots of powerboaters and as soon as I turn on my sailboat engine I'm a powerboater too.

Mahalo John,

It's nice to be here....

I'm usually up at Sunset Beach on Oahu when I go back. In fact, even though I'm on the east coast right now, her hailing port is Sunset Beach. It helps keep a bit of the Aloha Spirit no matter where I am.

My next boat will be a sailboat. Just not sure type and how many hulls. I like the sleekness of a mono hull, the versatility of a cat, and the sea fairing roominess of a Gulet! So, I still have some thinking to do....haha.

Sure got crowded around Sunset Beach since I used to go there in the 80s. First went there in the 60s but no one wants to hear stories about paradise.

I see you've narrowed down your search for sailboats to boats with sails. That's a start.

I didn't catch where you are located on the East Coast?

Re: Aloha - Introduction

Aloha Boat Guy, I played football with Milton Kanahe & Roger Lopes who were from Hawaii. If you cut through Stuart over to Fort Meyers stop at Calusa Island Marina (Marco Island) & say hello, We are only 85 nautical miles from Key West.

Huey, thanks for the invite. I have no plans to hit the gulf. But, only 85 NMiles from Key West is sure doable.....

No plans...could happen...Aloha
