Hello,
I am a greenhorn sailor living in Oahu, HI. My father (Bloodhound) recommended that I sign up for this forum in order to find a boat owner who is in need of a crew member. I do have a boat of my own, but it is 4000 miles away in Oklahoma; just can't afford to purchase, maintain, or store a boat here in Hawaii! I do know the basics of sailing. Any task or position I will accept. Please note that I am not looking for EMPLOYMENT, simply experience and the joy of sailing! Please message or send an e-mail!

Aloha Wydah,
Welcome aboard! There are a few Oahu sailors who occasionally post on this forum. I hope they respond so you can catch a ride from time to time. I've had the opportunity to sail aboard a Soling and think they are a great boat. Very racey. Kind regards, JohnL |

Aloha Wydah
Here are some options on Oahu. Not sure what type of sailing adventure you are looking for. Race season is coming to an end. Walk the docks at Ala Wai harbor on a Friday afternoon 4-5 Pm as there is a beer can race every Friday 52 weeks a year sponsored by Hawaii YC. You can also try Waikiki YC in Ala Moana park at the same time. WYC is having a membership drive and might have a military membership. PM me for more informationn WYC. Wyc has cruising group that has trips and non members are invited to meeting to meet skippers owners. Look for flyers at RBM an WYC. HYC has cruisng fleet also see HYC web site. Rainbow Bay Marina (Navy MWR) has a Thursday night series I think it is free to active duty in Rhodes 19's and 420's. You cant take sail lessons there also. They have a Cal or Catalina for rent for in harbor use only. Hickam AFB has a marina and some small boat but I am not familiar with their program. Kaneohe YC has fun races on Thursdays I do not know any details. |
