Aloha from Kauai

We are new to this site but not new to cruising. We are the Temme family and we are gearing up to take off from our Kauai home and set sail for the West Coast.. We are signed up for the Baja ha ha 2009 and are looking forward to sailing Mexico again. We were in Mexico and the South Pacific 2000-2001 Pre Kids.. We are looking forward to meeting others doing the same. Especially with kids on board. Our little ones are 3 and 6.
Mahalo,

Tanya

Aloha Tanya

Welcome to the forum...you'll get lots of good info here.

Sorry no kids but I did live on Kauai for about 6 years...loved every minute of it!!...and your leaving why? You do realize this is going to be like sailing to Polahali without a plant in sight for like...a million miles?

Just kidding, hope you have a nice sail over. You're probably leaving from Nawiliwili yes? Are you from Lihue side or farther around? Hope to see you down Mexico way as we're leaving later this summer.

Aloha Tanya,
Welcome aboard! When I sailed from Hanalei many years ago the preferred route was to head north until the trades shifted and hook around toward the mainland which pretty much puts you as far north as the Oregon/California border. Do you plan on heading straight for So Cal through the Pacific high and do a lot of motoring?
I hope you have a great voyage.
Kind regards,
JohnL
