Alaskans To Cruise

Hello All!

My name is Jeff I'm 36 and I live in Alaska. I'm in the beginning stages of planning a cruising trip. I may have some lofty goals based on some threads that I have already read, but I'm excited to throw out some of my thoughts and hear what the cruising community says!

My girlfriend and I don't really have a specific beginning or end destination but thinking of starting in FL.

Here is the basic plan, I'll probably end up posting many little questions on the liveabroads forum.

We'd like to purchase a boat 27-30' in FL spend a couple of months putting in required repairs and then begin to cruise. I have planned for 10K boat 7K repairs. We will not be looking for amenities just safety.

We currently live in small dry cabins and are fairly handy.

I do have a little sailing experience but definitely still green, ~50days logged mostly bareboat chartering as captain in Alaska, BVI, Gernada.

Answers I'll be seeking:
good locations to look in FL for this size of boat,
What other locations are feasible, Sea of Cortez........?
What major repairs should one keep away from,
Is Oct a good month to purchase a boat,
many many many more

Thanks in advance for any feedback!
Cheers

Aloha and welcome aboard!
Any month is a good month to buy a boat in my opinion.
