Aloha and welcome aboard!
My first boat was a fixed keel Catalina 22 and I never regretted buying her. I learned a lot in the couple years I owned her. Great little sailer. Had a pop top.
kind regards,

Thanks for the welcome. Spent my first day going through the boat. Seems to be pretty solid and pretty dirty! Still has original rigging, sails, and cushions so will probably clean it up and replace rigging, sheets, and sails then give it a whirl!

First full day cleaning up La Maestra

Opened up the hatches today and started cleaning the interior. After shop vacuuming a tank full of crud, I used Goof Off from Home Depot for the 15 year old stains, dirt and old animal nests (not sure if it was a bird or something that eat a bird). Was amazed how well it cleaned and the fumes were minimal. After about 3 hours, all of the cabin surfaces were shiny and looked like they had lots of promise!

Still have plenty of more cleaning of the bilge and storage areas, but it was a great first day with her and best of all, there were no surprises uncovered. Everything seems to be solid so far!

I have named her La Maestra in honor of her role in teaching me both sailing and sailboat repair!

hahaha. I thought we were supposed to do some grilling on the fourth of July! Sounds like La Maestra has a happy new owner. Enjoy.
