Ahoy from JAMU

I've just stumbled across this forum and am impressed with the postings. JAMU is a Leopard 42 that has been in charter management with The Moorings in Croatia and Belize. We will phase her out in August 08 and begin our early retirement cruising in the Western Caribbean before sailing her to Texas for some major upgrades. I'd be happy to share what we've learned from our cruising in Belize, and will be looking for insights on Rio Dulce, the Bay Islands of Honduras and Yucatan.

Hi Jamu Joe in Abu Dhabi

I drove through Abu Dhabi and Dubai a couple of years ago in my Land Rover Defender, and I saw a massive marina being excavated in Dubai. The was a huge hole in the ground - a harbor being dug - not yet connected to the sea, but the bulkheads were already in place.

Has the Marina been completed yet? Is it just for mega yachts? Are there any cruising yachts there?

When we were in Muscat at the marina south of town, there was a large marina with many sailboats as well.

Is there any room for the cruising sailor there in the Emirates/Persian Gulf, and are there any affordable places to keep a sailboat?
