Ahoy Everyone From Oregon!!!

I am new to sailing but I am ready to sell my 29ft Bayliner Contessa Flybridge. I want to buy a 41ft Morgan Out Island to begin some new and further adventures. I'm sure it sounds crazy to some as I have absolutely no sailing experience but we are ready to learn as we go I suppose!! I have many friendships online with couples that sail all over in their sailboats and I am ready to start our adventures. Any helpful advice is and will always be greatly appreciated. We were told that the Morgan 41 Out Island was a forgiving boat, a solid built boat and a good one to learn with. If that is the case we are ready to find our new boat!!! Thanks again,
CaptDudley

Aloha and welcome aboard!
Good to have you posting on the forum. You've stated that you have powerboating experience so you know navigation and rules of the road plus mechanicals. I'd still recommend reading a bunch about the most efficient way to use your sails.
Your choice of sailboat is a good one but I'd recommend that you don't discount other makes and models and be certain to look around at other boats. 41 feet is a lot of boat to learn sailing on. Can be done but it is a big boat.
I'll be in Salem for a High School reunion this summer and both my brothers and my sister still live there. Brothers and sister live in the NE side. I lived in the SE.
What part of town do you live in?
kind regards,

SkiprJohn, I live in the Keizer area which is actually North of Salem. What High School did you attend? Maybe we can get together when you visit for some coffee and we can talk more.. Talk to you later,

Re: Ahoy Everyone From Oregon!!!

Aloha Captain,
My mom lived in Keizer with my sister for several years. I have some friends that do half year over here on the other side of the island who live in Keizer as well. They too were powerboaters and had a sailboat at one time too. When I drive down from the airport to visit my brothers I take the 260 exit and Chemawa Rd and head east to get to their place.
South Salem HS is having their reunion in late August so I should be in the area then and I'd love to catch a cup of coffee with you to talk boat stuff.
Let us know how your sailboat search is going and don't be shy about asking questions about certain makes and models. Most everyone here is friendly.

SkiprJohn, That is the exit in which I take to get home as well. I live just off Chemawa and River road. I will for sure let you know how the search is going and if I have questions I will absolutely ask here. Looking forward to that coffee in August! That is of course I am not out in the sailboat cruising to Hawaii!!! lol Thanks again..
