Ahoy All

Hi from Sue and Gene aboard Peregrine. We started our circumnavigation in the 2000 Baja Ha Ha. We are currently in Italy. We were planning to leave at the end of March and head west, but the weather has been stinky so if we can keep our berth for a few more weeks we'll do that.

Welcome, Sue.

Are you planning to keep heading west and sail to the Caribbean this fall?

Hi Hud,
The plan right now is to get to the Canaries by September and head for the Lesser Antilles (or?)in December. I need to fly home around June 1 for the birth of my grandson and the immediate plans are up in the air. We were going to leave Ostia (Rome)on April 1 and head for Gibraltar, but the weather has been very bad and we think we'll wait if we can. We had gusts that topped 88 knots (according to a fellow cruisers anemometer--I know that sounds unbelievable--it was really scary--hail, lightening and wind that felt like it could tear the boat up)here two days ago. Quite a few roller furling jibs shredded, ours included. It stayed furled because we had the sheets wound around a few times, but the top part got torn up. The marina did tell us last month that we could stay another month if we wanted, but when Gene checked last week they said they'd have to check. The office has been closed for the Easter week-end so we'll find out tomorrow if they have room for us to stay. No sense in going out until the winter weather is really over. I really would have hated being out there this last week-end. The other cruisers here are of the same thought; stay here until things calm down. If we stay two to four weeks, we'll head for Valencia or closer instead of Gib. for my June trip.
Sorry for the late response, I'm having a few wireless problems.

Whew! Don't blame you for sitting put! Hope the weather improves for you so you can keep moving west.

Congrats on your soon-to-be grandchild. We're expecting our second in late July.

Thank-you all for the welcome. I thought I should put up a photo of our roller-snarler so you don't think I'm a kook telling fish stories.

Hello Sue and Gene,

This is Dave on Exit Only. The last time we saw you guys was at AbuTig Marina in Egypt. Exit Only is now in Fort Pierce, Florida.

Glad to hear that you finally escaped from the Red Sea. Enjoy your Med Cruise.

Hi Dr. Dave,

Good to hear from you. Ironically, I just found your web site last night; very well done. Yes, we got out of the Red Sea alive and without amputations , but it was really a rough stretch for both of us. Thanks again for your help during our low point. That was not a pleasant trip for quite a few people. While we were in Turkey, we met up with a couple we crossed the Pacific with. They had come through the Red Sea the year after us, and she said she wouldn’t even FLY over it.
Say Hi to Donna and David and Sarah.
