Acapulco 40'

Hello: We have a Acapulco 40', purchased hull and deck in late '70's. It is almost completed. My husband has done ALL the work himself. Our Hull # is 15. We purchased it here in San Diego from the hull and deck mold owner Gary Powell. Right after ours there where two more sold, one going to Oregon and the other Oceanside, CA. Delmag, good to hear you are still working on yours. Love to hear from any of the Acapulco 40' owners once and awhile. Diane

Acapulco 40'

Cheechako: Yes We have LOTS of pics, but they are just of building the built. Not of much interest to anyone but us. When I can, I"ll send some of something of interest. Diane

Tension Reliever -Acapulco 40

Good to hear from other Acapulco owners. Tension Reliever was launched in Oct 1977. I think she's hull #16. She had a refit and keel modification 97-04. We've had her since Sept 08 and are enjoying getting to know her. We have pictures but still trying to learn how to make them accessible. We're in Alameda next week from June 5th through the 12th. Delmag are you interested in dropping by and seeing a finished Acapulco?

Sailor Rick, PLEASE, PLEASE post pics of the keel mod when you can. Let me know if you need help, or email them to me and I'll post. My boat, the Challenger Anacapa 42 shares the exact same hull as your Acapulco, from the same mold. Dieing to see what you did! Thanks, Chris

pirate Pictures of Tension Reliever - Acapulco 40

Hope I do this right. Attached are pictures of Tension Reliever. Launched October 77. I think she is hull # 16. We are the fourth owner. Original owner was Gilbert Mann - San Diego area - had her from 77 - 97. Next owner was Garrett Caldwell - San Francisco area - he owned her from 97 - 2004. He did the keel modification, updated electronics/nav station, new Volva Penta 59 HP, new water tanks etc. Beautiful job all around. Howard Klein owned her from 2004 until we bought her in Sept. 2008. I might be able to post more on the keel modification later as the plans are on board and alas I have no scanner. If I can work it out, I'll see what I can do.

Rick, that is possibly the nicest Acapulco 40 I've ever seen. Please post more pics of the rudder and keel when you can...they are WAY different then the original!
