"Absolutely" love sailing from a new kid on the block

Hi all,

Two months ago Eddie (partner) and I flew from Kalgoorlie WA to Brisbane, bought a 35' Hitchiker cat named "Absolutely" and are sailing her home via the top end. I have never been on a boat before, with Ed being the experienced one. This is the first boat we have ever owned and lived on. The more sailing I do, the more I realise how much there is to learn. The more I learn, the more I realise just how little I know, but what a wonderful way to live. Thank you to all who contribute to this marvellous site, we are proud to belong to the 'sailing' family of such happy, helpful people. Thanks also to Bob & Kay Norson of TPC fame for pointing out this site.

Delmarrey, we are talking about the top end of Australia, from Thursday Island across the Gulf of Carpentaria to Darwin, then down the west coast to Geraldton. At present we are in Mackay, Queensland, which is on the east coast of Australia, unable (and unwilling) to risk the trip home due to the cyclone season being upon us. We will sit out the four months then recommence our journey. Thus far we had done about 1100 nautical miles in 19 days sailing - a wonderful and exciting trip, and already can't wait to begin again. Where is Puget Sound? Cheers, Wendy & Eddie

Puget Sound, WA

(Seattle area) WA (here) is the State of Washington. 48 deg. 02' 08" N X 122 deg. 10' 25" W. is where I keep the boat. The Puget Sound is SE of that. I'm up a river, literally

I know how you feel about the storms we just missed the typhoon, by hours, that ripped thru the Philippines on Aug. 28th. There is some nasty stuff that goes through the Indonesia islands this time of year.

When the feeling stops it's time to quit. I hope you never lose it because it means you'll continue to learn your whole life.
