A New Sailor's Questions

HI all
I am a new member here .Recently I found sailing is very interesting.So I decide to learn sailing .I have some questions following:
1.what steps should i do if i want to sailing?
2. These days I have go through many website to learn some knowledges about sailboats ,sail.But sometimes it is hard for me to understand ,who can give me more information about sail?
3.I want design my sails by myself,is there information about it?

Hi Sailmaker and welcome to the Cruisers Forum - Where in China are you located? Do you get to sail? Are you near the ocean? Did you get to see any Olympic sailing in Qingdao?

Maybe you should go to Hong Kong and see how they make sails. You would probably learn a great deal about the practical aspects of constructing sails. Good luck on your new endeavor.

I am in jilin city which not close to sea or ocean .now i interesting abut sailing ,but i didnot have enough money to buy my own boats .I have seen some vidos of olympic sailing ,i plan to go to qingdao next time if it has racing!

it more information about me .I am now a sail maker in china . It is my first experience to be a designer of sails. I am lack of skilling to make a good sail. But I have confident to become a out standing sail designer. These days I have gone through many website about sails and sailboats, but I still have a lot of things that I do not understand, I hope I can get some advices from the members here. I am active man ,and I think I should learn knowledge with practicing. I wish to know more friend here ,and I expect your advices .

So I presume you are already working in a sail loft for someone else. Must be a good place to learn about making sails. No many sailmakers on this forum but many sail buyers!
