Question Words of Wisdom?

Life is a shipwreck but we must not forget to sing in the lifeboats. - Voltaire

What a great philosophy for the cruiser?

Re: Words of Wisdom?

Oh well, I thought it was amusing! Bit of a precursor to the Monty Python "always look on the bright side", but with a nice maritime twist. I think I might use it as my signature.

Hi Shane….Not so sure that is a great motto/mission statement given the recent history of Captain Concordia ...

"Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass,
It's about dancing in the rain."

Edited to add: "With harness securely clipped on"

Yep, that's another cool quote. Thanks for sharing!

I would be more worried a hundred years back being in the lifeboat with Captain Tom Dudley! (See, R v Dudley & Stephens 1884)

Re: Words of Wisdom?

Ecc 9:10 Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest.
Ecc 9:11 I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all.

1Co 1:20 Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?

Oh yeah, and the great thing about that Jesus guy who came a bit later was that he was happy to hang with fishermen around boats.

Not getting all religious. However, when you read the accounts of the famous circumnavigators nearly all had profound moments. While Robin Knox was reading philosophy Bernard just kept going. Pity though Donald did not have faith in the lifeboat analogy.
