Re: Why Climate Change Won't Matter in 20 Years

The thing is this carbon and fossil fuel burning is to distract us from the real problem!

The problem is we have a lot of people and a high percent of them like beef. So this means we have to raise more cows to supply the beef. And cows fart a lot!

And a high percent of people also like to drink beer. So we also fart a lot.

But trying to convince people to give up steak and beer was way too challenging so a secret pact was formed to shift attention away to something they thought they could sell us.

Yes!

Do a good job getting the house ready for the new land-based people.

In honor of earth day week, I would like to take a moment and give a public laugh at Bob Ehrlich's "Population Bomb" hoax. Learn the lesson of the Population Bomb Hoax and you will understand a key aspect of the MMGW Hoax.

No, no -- it's belching that's the big environmental threat Sailorboy. Belching. You really ought to keep up with your "science."

Ok...I'll bite. That was written in 1968 when the population was 3.2 billion. It has doubled since then. So I wonder what I'm not understanding.

Belching has an impact. But science says that having passed through a waste treatment system results in farting being 10 times more destructive on the environment. I know this seems counter intuitive as normally we think of waste treatment as reducing pollutants.

Sounds like it's a problem with the pollutants they use to reduce the impact of the pollutants. Or somethin' like that . . . .

This is, in a nutshell, why I am a skeptic...

Re: Why Climate Change Won't Matter in 20 Years

Been gone for a few now let me get this all straight
To mmgw people
El Nino = gw
La Nina = weather
To the rest of us
El Nino = warm rain
La Nina = cold rain
Aka weather (got it I think.)

And in latest news on GBR coral bleaching, we have now reached 93% bleaching. Not far away now from that 97% number which will prove beyond doubt global warming is to blame.

http://www.brisbanetimes.com.au/envi...19-goa6jw.html

The Great Barrier Reef: 93% hit by coral bleaching, surveys reveal

Although bleaching of the reef has occurred before, this event is by far the biggest.

Scientists surveying the mass coral bleaching on the Great Barrier Reef say only 7*per cent of Australia's*environmental icon has been left untouched by the event...

I made an assumption of even distribution of the heat in order to do the trivial exercise that showed that the claim of 4 atomic weapons per second was designed to inflame the ignorant rather than contribute to understanding.

You might also note that I'm not of the crowd who claims that excess heat is "hiding" in the deep oceans.

I spent almost thirty years evaluating ocean temperature profiles worldwide in oceans and in seas, and have a clear understanding that they change spatially and temporally with many forcing functions. No data base exists that can capture the total energy in them from year to year, or the trends in that total energy.

Figure 4: The volumes of the cubes are proportional to the magnitude of the energy flow from various sources. The solar irradiance is the incident energy, averaged over the area of the Earth (divided by four); irradiance varies over 11 year cycles and, at the top of recent cycles, can reach 341.7 Wm-2. The increase in anthropogenic forcing since pre-industrial times comes from the IPCC. The heat flow from the Earth’s interior is the 47 TW figure (see Figure 3 caption) averaged over the surface area. The energy flow from the human energy production is based on Flanner (2009). Tidal energy is the total energy input from the gravitational interaction between the Earth, Moon and Sun; a small part of this energy is included in the energy flow from the Earth’s interior (see below for further discussion).

Heat from the Earth’s interior does not control climate
OK, I've just got to leap back in on this one.

That is NOT a comparison of "energy inputs". Forcing <> input.

If you don't understand the fundamental difference between the four listed energy inputs and the "Increase in anthropogenic forcing....", then there is no hope of rational discussion about climate.

The key word in your post.

Wrong.

No one in this discussion has made those first two claims.

I know that I have attributed my weather to El Nino.

BTW - record high today - 28 C. El Nino work at work.

How about all the recent record high temps we keep hearing about, with no mention of El Nino? Or have the temps already been adjusted for that?
