So whats your plans for Thanksgiving...big family get togather..or a day by yourself..tell us about it.

Are any of you spending Thanksgiving on your boat or going for a Thanksgiving sail?

I will start.

Well..we will not be able to do that unfortunately but we are looking forward to a day of rest and well ..thanksgiving...we have a lot to be thankful for, 3 beautiful healthy kids and ditto one wife.

For the last 6 or 7 years we have kept a tradition with one of our best friends..we take turns preparing a big breakfast and inviting each other over to our homes for a Thanksgiving breakfast ..this gives one family a total break in any sort of food preperation or clean up for that meal on what can be a hectic day.

It's our turn and we have the house clean and food bought... its exciting in its own way..we have been friends for close to 20 years and have watched each others kids grow into young adults from birth and its a great way to show our continual love for one another.

Immediate family will gather at my folks house around 4:00 for traditional turkey dinner with all the fixings and more time with loved ones.

I will be at home with family and friends. Giving thanks to God for His goodness and Grace in our lives. Thankful for a faithful wife, three good sons and two great daughters, five wonderful grandchildren, a good warm home,food to eat, bills payed, great friends, good church family,good community,great USA country,good friends in Central America, Mexico,England,Bulgaria. First half here at office "working" then to my sisters house for a big dinner then a good game of Hold'em Poker in the evening. I do a couple of salads and other bring a dish and my sister and niece (a chef) do the bird and fixing. In all probability some alcohol may get involved.

This is our "big" family gathering as I'll be heading back to the West Indies in less than two weeks and will not be around for Christmas or New Years or my nieces 5th year celebration of her restaurant in Mexico Beach Florida. All things I love, but being on the boat with the Christmas Winds blowing and my friends in the islands are something I look forward to all year long... so we make the most of Thanksgiving Day and the week end.

After the wife feeds the "blue hairs" ( F&B Director at a hotel) we are headed to the boat for snacks and wine with our sailing pals. The forcast tomorrow is for fair winds in the mid 60's perfect for an afternoon sail........

Husband flying from Alaska to San Francisco Bay are to visit S/V ORCA. He'll spend Thanksgiving day on board, matter of fact he will be there for about two weeks, re-powering her and getting her hauled out for survey etc...

Daughter and I are still in Finland.

We are thankful for our family and friends and all the good things happening in our lives.

My wife is born and raised Anchorage..Her family has roots there for over 80 years now..Has He/you been there long?

Finland ..Alaska ..SF....Thats a lot of flying.

Re wiring the AC circuits and replacing some of the DC wiring. And then home for dinner with the family.

I started the morning watching the Thanksgiving Day Parade (Macy's) on the Television. Then we tossed the turkey in the oven and watched the snow start to fall. Not really a true snow, but more like clouds spitting out a few snowflakes.

I miss my boat something fierce, and will not be able to return to her until after Christmas due to the cost of traveling from Colorado to San Diego.

However, once there, I will spend New Years eve and all of January doing some winter sailing in SoCal.

I moved to Alaska in -78. Husband has been there for decades also.

I'm spending today in my home Plymouth, Ma. with a couple of lobsters, some steamers, beer, and a bottle of cheapo champagne to make it fancy!

My brother, and his family drove from the St. Louis area to Mom's earlier in the week. We drove down to Mom's in Daytona, and spent the night. A couple more family members with family was there too. Lots of food, and warm feelings all around.

Even with all the confusion in our country now. I have to consider myself pretty damned lucky. I could be living in a mud hut. Smacking flies off of me. Wondering where my next meal will come from, or will the next tribe invade us?

For those not from the USA. BEST WISHES to you too, and everyday is a day for giving thanks just for the chance to get my head off my pillow every morning!

I flew the Captain of my yacht to South America from Miami on thanksgiving day and we celebrated with him and my family here in the Andes, long ways from Tortola where the boat is but still was fantastic.

My Captain appreciated to see thanksgiving from a different perspective, I am flying him back to Fort Lauderdale on Monday.

Best
