Between a weasel and a stoat?

A weasle is a weasonable little chap but a stoat is stoataly different.

No, serious answers now please.

Whats the difference between:-

A dink and a boat
A boat and a yacht
A boat and a ship

And any others you can think of.

Re: Whats the difference between....

Y'aught to just call it a boat not a yacht.
Keep your ship in a slip and but get a float for your boat.

A vessel is a vessel is a vessel but I'm not sure about weasels unless you are referring to the human type.

Re: Whats the difference between....

A vessel is a container.
A vessel keeps the water out.
A container trumps a vessel any day. (Semi-sunken)

A skipper is a lively child.
A skipper tells everyone else to run around and does nothing himself.

A MATE - I'll leave that one.

Re: Whats the difference between....

If a first mate is first, what does that say about the second mate?

A yacht has sails and motors everywhere.
A sailboat has a motor and sails everywhere.

Re: Whats the difference between....

A dink fits on a boat.
A boat does not fit on a dink.

A boat fits on a ship.
A ship does not fit on a boat.

A yacht is referred to in that manner by its owner.

SV- sailing vessel
MV- motor vessel
SS- steam ship

HMS- his or hers magestys ship.

Re: Whats the difference between....

But not all boats will easily fit on a ship.

Even then, submarines are called "boats" even though the modern ones are larger than many capital war ships. Probably because they started out the size of boats.

You're building a boat; the guy who has been the bane of your existence is a dink.

Re: What's the Difference Between . . .

A yacht is a sailing/motor vessel for private use.
A dink is a tender that can be shipped on either of the above
A dink can also be any small open boat I guess
A boat is a sailing/motor vessel that can be shipped
A ship is a sailing/motor vessel that cannot be shipped, but that can ship smaller vessels.
