What to Buy at Amazon ?

Just came into a $500 store credit at Amazon. Trying to put together a list of toys.

- new fans for the cabin
- iPad bracket for cockpit? ( will rarely use)
- solar-LED cabin and deck lights?

Help me spend my money!

Probably gonna do some surfing tonight. Whoo-hoo another big Friday in Singapore...

Always a favorite:
Amazon.com: Boatowner's Mechanical and Electrical Manual: How to Maintain, Repair, and Improve Your Boat's Essential Systems (9780071432382): Nigel Calder: Books

..but if you have an iPad, then you'll surely enjoy this more:
Amazon.com: Digital Yacht NMEA to Wireless Wi-Fi Adapter - 38,400 Baud: Sports & Outdoors
..if you can stretch to a remote for your autopilot then you can sit at the bow making course adjustments while monitoring your course and instruments on your iPad with iNavX installed..

Hey thats a good reminder. My gf needs a new watch and admired my fancy timex last time she saw it.

http://www.amazon.com/Timex-T40941-E...0657219&sr=1-2

She's a sailor too and the countdown timer is pretty decent.

I have several "fancy" watches with dead batteries in a drawer. My $300 Suunto crapendangled after 3 months and I am still fighting a warranty claim - grrr.

This Expedition has been takin' a lickin' and keepin' on tickin' for a year now. My most recent favorite boat watch.

I like to visit Thailand and ask the street vendors for fake casios. The looks I get LOL...

Ooops .. this was the one I meant to post.. same as above but has AIS built in and splices it into the NMEA and WLAN streams.. so it gives a wired AIS feed back to your plotter too!

The only downside is that it's not a transceiver

Buy the book, "The Curve of Time", writtem by a single Mom who takes off in a small (26 foot) boat with her 5 children and explores in the footsteps of George Vancouver, the Pacific North West. She did this in 1929!

Re: What to Buy at Amazon ?

Well if we're talking watches and just want one beauty there's this one.

Amazon.com: Seiko Men's Velatura Yachting Timer Watch SPC007: Seiko: Watches

If you want two watches each and something cheaper perhaps these. I have both so the comment isn't idle. The first one is my everyday watch when living aboard. Very tough which is good because I would bang it at least once a week. The second one has a countdown race timer.

Watches: Amazon.com: Casio Men's MDV102-1AV Sea Analog Illuminator Dual LED Dive Watch:

(CASIO) SEA-PATHFINDER Sports Gear Watch (SPS-300C-1VER): Amazon.co.uk: Kitchen & Home: Casio

I don't know why the last one is not sold in USA.

Re: What to Buy at Amazon ?

Watches??!!

I haven't worn or needed a watch in 4 years. Sun comes up, it's time to get up. Sun high and hot, it's time to seek shade or go swimming. Sun gets low, it's time for cocktails. It's always time to fix the boat.

Isn't this Cruiser's Forum?
