And I wasn't naming names.

Everyone should remember to hit the report icon instead of adding to any situation. It helps everyone by keeping things civil.

LOL

Sometimes I get the impression that an OP thinks they are entitled to their own specific answer tailored to their needs and circumstances. In the real world when I respond to someone on that basis I accompany it with a bill

IMO an OP has to accept that folks usually contribute to a thread for the benefit of readers as well as an OP. otherwise we'd use only PM's The price of that is some contributions of varying degrees of usefulness to the OP - but all are useful, if only as a thread bump (I've responded to some threads simply because I thought a bump would help generate some more useful responses, not only for the benefit of the OP but because an interesting question / thread).

BTW on this subject I blame OP for stirring things up

I've been thinking that it was awfully rude of her but assumed it would be impolite to point that out.

This place must be rude ...

170 posts on the topic and still going strong ... but civil. I sense a disconnect. Perhaps I should infrequent this place less often. Then I would have the experience of not experiencing it and could see for myself how rude it isn't. By the by, why do we never here about trimarans in the endlessly interesting discussion on the importance of numbers when it comes to hulls?

It appears to be a simple self-esteem problem. The more hulls you need, the less confidence you have. They deserve our compassion.

ROTFLOL! Love that!

I hadn't experienced much rudeness - guess I'll have to go looking for those "lively" threads.

I've always thought that one of the marks of a true friendship is the ability to strongly disagree on a topic, argue about it vehemently, yet still remain the closest of friends.

In a forum which aims to be a social enterprise as well as a repository of information (which is how I understand the CF forum description), I would think that disagreements and arguments are to be expected, if not compulsory...

I have strongly disagreed on certain subjects with several members here, with whom I nonetheless consider myself a "forum friend", and have exchanged pleasant and friendly PMs with many of those whose opinions differ to my own. Perhaps if you only see the arguments themselves in the thread they may look more like "rudeness", but that's a function of a written medium unfortunately (where the comments appear both without aural subtlety, and with everlasting imprint!).

The moderators do an outstanding job. A TRULY outstanding job.

And I'm convinced they show no bias towards each other or to other senior members, from my direct personal experience.
