Wow, old thread. I just saw this thread for the first time and haven't read all 140 posts, but I can't pick just one boat. Or even type of boat. Or generation. Or era.

Frankly, I love the classics, but detest the "over-classic'd" over-the-top schooners and square rigger bastardizations, etc (only half of Antigua race week holds my attention). (don't worry Cherubini Yacht, you are classic in my mind).

But I also swoon for the clean lines of Wally and Gunboat, and the technology of Maltese Falcon, etc. Really, can any of you look at a Wally and not forget your names?

And the testosterone of the current AC72's and some of the round the world racers - they are beautiful to me also.

I have a big shrug about Oysters and others of that ilk that most swoon for.

I have even found particular models of Hunters and Beneteaus that I thought hit the beauty mark squarely (but most miss terribly).

And any purpose-built boat is pure beauty in my eye - fishing trawlers, tugs, even barges - as long as they don't compromise in their purpose in any way, they are beautiful to me.

I can say that pretty much any IOR boat and the 1980-1990 charter-purpose boats are the ugliest to me (Morgan, Irwin, etc). And the leaky-teakies. I just don't get the Taiwanese pirate boat thing. ARGH...

And if you come up with a steely as an example, it better be a good design that is well-executed. I have seen those (although few) and have duly worshiped them.

Ain't never seen a ferrocement that could be mentioned within a mile of this thread.
