Get that freakin pile of speed boat puss out of shot!!!!!!

Well, the most beautiful boat in the world sailed into the bay we are in yesterday.

Nicolle dragged me off the 'puter screaming 'Ya GOTTA see this boat!'

When I first got up I could only see the sails as it was blocked by the motor boat but I thought they would drift along... but just after this photo they turned to starboard and the vision splendid was no more!

Zeehag's pic shows what it would have looked like all standing.

As Nic just said: What happens if you hit a squall?

I've always been partial to working boat aesthetics, so I've got to go with the Bristol Channel Cutter

Yes it was (and is, the Bluenose II is undergoing refit)

And here's a pretty good song about her:

the gaff rigged ship has always had my heart---i learned on gaff rigged sloop--i still wish to sail a schooner--elegant lady.

the clipper ships--flying cloud and the rest--were impressive in a charge, as well---part of the schooner love, i think...the prow of a clipper ship is beauty in motion...

full rag like that, in a squall--fly or die..is all there is to it---no way to lower it fast!!!

i dont know what boat is pictured--she is merely awesome sailing with a bone in her teeth!

when i visited the caribean dec 2008, i saw many gaff rigged sachooners--i
believe they are charterers....gorgeous...

when you see a garden ketch with a bone in her teeth and charging towards you , you see a very impressive sight...these lil ships are awesome under sail--beautiful. they command the attention .. bcc do also--they are stout lil shiplets--lyle hess did an excellent job of designing them.
but , as for the aesthetics of a charging shiplet, under sail--the old schooners and the garden ketches grab me--i LOVE the looks...

Here are two of my boats out for a sail a few years ago. As you can surmise, they tend toward the "old timey" end of the range. Which is more beautiful? Tough call for me - and both of them are pretty good at paying their own way!
