What Do You Think of My Video ?

Hey everyone! I'm working hard on my blog and have posted a new video of my first ever sailing trip today. I'd appreciate some feedback on it. I'm trying to find the right tone for these videos. Can you tell me if you think this style is engaging, interesting or if you feel I've "missed the boat" as they say? I'm just trying to improve my delivery of content here as I move forward on my blog and eventually the documentary of my journey.

Watch the video at WithSailsUnfurled. com and then please post comment critiques here on CF. If you have a general comment, please feel free to post it to the WithSailsUnfurled site directly.

Thanks a bunch everyone!

Re: What do you think of my video?

As a video it was first class production and it's not easy to do that. Sound and video was great.

Sorry, but you had a PERFECT day for sailing! It really isn't better than what you had unless it goes longer. Most of the time the water isn't that flat when the wind blows that hard. All sails flying and screaming is the best it gets any place on the planet.

Always chat up the boat first thing. It's what we want to know Sailors are a dime a dozen but we want to see the boat!

If anyone sees how much fun you had they want to go sailing. It's the best thing I could say.

If you can find a way to do that on a regular basis we need to see the videos!

Thanks! That's good input and I'll be sure to try and remember to talk the boat up first in the future.

Re: What do you think of my video?

Cool vid for a noob like me. I am leaving for Thailand to go to sailing school in Phuket in a few days and cannot wait. I hope it is challenging, and tough. I hope bad things happen. I hope I get seasick and can't keep down my pad kew mow. This way, I know that if I still like sailing in the tropics after a bad school experience, I will buy a boat, and cruise for the next 5-10 years, fishing, snarfing rum in strange ports, escorting dolphins, fishing for dinner, and gathering cocoanuts. I will keep an eye out for mermaids, and avoid pirates if possible, or join them if I can't beat 'em. Ahar!

Re: What do you think of my video?

My little stylus on video picks up all the wind noise.

You must have a better camera.

Best of luck.

Re: What do you think of my video?

Let me start by complimenting you on an Excellent Video, on a great day sailing on San Diego Bay. (Describe where you are in more general terms), Harbor Island West Marina in California (as determined by the picture with California in it). I recognize the area as my boat is in Marian Cortez on Harbor Island.
Tell us more about the boat up front, not at the end. Tell us more details as you are sailing, specifics as to the wind speed, hull speed, discuss the heel of the boat.
Otherwise, this is one of the better videos that I have seen of sailing. You have hit the mark, NOT missed the boat. Some minor fine tuning will make it that much better.
Thanks for the great video of my home sailing ground!
Neil

@nes Thanks Neil for the critique. I greatly appreciate that. I will make notes and do my best to get that sort of information into future videos.

Re: What do you think of my video?

I loved the way that you articulate the difference between motoring and sailing. As I listened, I slowly started to nod and involuntarily whispered "yeah". Well done!
