It fizzled and the game continued.
Thanks for your nice note.

I believe a lot of the 60s was BECAUSE of the Vietnam war DRAFT. Recall, if you will, the draft riots in NYC during the CIVIL WAR in the 1860s! 100 years later...

A lot of it had to do with your point of view. If you were called up, and I was in Oct '68, just as Tricky Dick was widening, not ending the war, I was terrified. I simply didn't want to die for nothing. Got a medical deferment, all legal, no Cheney/Bush crap.

But there were all those construction workers who kept beating up on the "hippies" - and since the construction workers weren't getting drafted, they could get away with that crazy "My country, right or wrong."

Once the powers that be realized they could run a war without a draft and outsource most of the support roles away from the Army and to their buddies at Haliburton (thanks again, Cheney), then what's losing $9 billion in cash, anyway? Small change.

The PEOPLE it affected were the poor sods who got drafted.

And another great thing about the Ryan budget: even LESS $$ for our returning veterans. No administration, ever, has ever done anything to HELP the men & women they send to fight. Ever.

The bastards.

.
Yes.......... and no.

The government managed to negate the whole episode by convincing a portion of the public........ to have nationalistic pride in the country, even though the whole thing was false.

Yes... the draftees suffered the 'righteous wrath' of the country... carefully orchestrated by government.........

And the country, in the main now recognises it was fooled but shrugs it off and the whole problem continues.

So........ thats my contribution as an observer finished on this thread, and I will turn it back to newt If he wants it back

No wonder I couldnt find any information about the NZ model.. I always check before I ask

Funny, the stuff I have, medical equipment or otherwise, made in China is excellent...... maybe a manufacturer needs to establish the quality AND the price before beginning to produce.....

Re: What did we Learn from the 60's?

B'Shert is a Yiddish word meaning "meant to be" as when you meet your soul mate and it is just meant to be.

Done....

There really is nothing more to observe. My notes were historical. Most people dont really give a rats bottom and in the end will have to deal with what is.
Ha! when the ***** hits the fan, if they remember parts of this thread........ it wont make a difference!

Really upset that Lambretta bit the dust...... What a beautiful machine.
Sigh.

That unchecked liberalism (in the Timothy Leery sense) is a disease and its adherents are hopelessly marred by its effects. Utterly and completely destructive....
