Watched "The Interview" tonight

OK, its been a long time since I've watched a Stoner Movie, like Cheech and Chong's Up in Smoke, but because some silly little man in North Korea said I couldn't watch it, I did. I can see why little Kim didn't want this movie released, if balloon dropped into North Korea it would cause a bit of a stink.

Plus I wanted to support Sony in their decision to release it even though most of the juicy stuff from the hack hasn't been made public yet. Kudos to Sony.

And of course if Internet sales go through the roof, not only am I part of it, but little Kim sees how the hack backfired. Most democratic countries and their people don't take too kindly to censorship from an outside source.

Meh, not my kind of movie, so I'll probably never see it, but Sony and the media brought a lot of this fiasco upon themselves. It's a joke that so many theaters and a major corporation were brought to their knees by a two-bit dictator. And whoda thunk that George Clooney could make this much sense: Hollywood Cowardice: George Clooney Explains Why Sony Stood Alone In North Korean Cyberterror Attack | Deadline

Re: Watched "The Interview" tonight

Well since George is the son of anchorman Nick Clooney, I'm sure dinner conversations were enlightening for young George. By buying and not renting the movie, I voted for no outside censorship. I hope the numbers are high enough to send the message.

There was no hack. It was just awesome marketing. They are going to make way more money now then had they simply released it normally.

Re: Watched "The Interview" tonight

As this is a cruising forum I'll try to respond about the movie and keep the thread on crushing/sailing.

I started to watch this movie tonight, and after just 20 minutes I can see why Sony are now giving it away. It's Terrible. Completely 'sunk' in my view. After 'cruising' through the first ten minutes it just continued to 'founder' so I decided to 'pull the anchor' on it.

And for anyone who thinks it was North Korea that were behind the hacking, well think about it. The main clue for the FBI was that
The hackers signed their work, 'the North Korean Hackers group'. Seriously! It's hardly convincing evidence. And now I've seen how bad this movie is, I can't help but think Sony saw a way of getting something back on their return and so pulled it.

Its a parody about a self proclaimed deity, and being the son of another self proclaimed deity, was deserving of the jabs.

How do you take Little Kim seriously, you all know he doesn't pee or poop. lol

And I'll bet the local towns aren't installing mooring fields and prohibiting anchoring!

I'm not too curious. I find Seth Rogan to be creepy, and his roles tend to be pretty scatologically centered or at least unevolved. Franco is a good dramatic actor but I don't see him in a comedic role; could be wrong. If it's a dope smoking movie, I have no interest whatsoever--I can see high idiots who can't handle their buzz every single day in Anchorage.

This was not a marketing ploy, it just MAY have worked out good for them, but not necessarily.

It costs what, $10-12 these days to go to the theater? Instead of seeing it in the theater, you can rent it or buy it and watch at home. For a single person watching by themselves, the theater would be cheaper, but for any other scenario watching at home is cheaper. So they won't necessarily make more money with it being on demand even if the on demand numbers are better than any theater numbers would have been.
