Re: Using the Ignore and Thanks Buttons - Curious

If anyone hasn't checked they can see if anyone thanked them by clicking on the "User CP" icon towards the top left of each page.

Re: Using the Ignore and Thanks Buttons - Curious

I use the thanx button once in a great while. The ignore button...I've been tempted but just can't...waiting to see if the particular person can be anymore ridiculous.

Re: Using the Ignore and Thanks Buttons - Curious

I have noticed in the user cp that total number of thanks are tracked as "points" . I would presume there must be a way to check another users points or "reputation" but I've never figured out how. Anyone know?

It's not a button, Barnie. It's in the pull-down menu that shows itself when you click on a username in a post.

Apparently missing in my version of CF. But I will experiment ... one of those days ... ;-)

The green square that should be to the right of members names is the thanks indicator. Currently it is missing everywhere except on that person's member profile.

If you hover your cursor over it and it will display things like 'will receive many thanks', 'helpful poster', 'has received many thanks', 'has received many accolades', 'has received thanks from all over the world', has received thanks from all over the universe'. The phrase is linked to the number of thanks received. First bump is at about 10. I haven't been able to figure out when subsequent bumps are but I have seen several with 2 squares and 1 person who used to have 3 squares (Gord-May) which recently became 6 squares with one brighter than the others and if you hover the cursor over them it says 'Gordmay is gloriously helpful'

For those who are not getting 'Thanks' notifications' and would like to.
Click on 'User CP'
On the very left side of the UserCP page there is a bar labeled 'Your Control Panel' with a number of groups of general options.
The 3rd general group of options is labeled 'Settings & Options'.
4th item down is 'Edit Options', click on that.
The 'Edit Options' page that comes up has several panes in it. The second one down is 'Messaging & Notification'. At the very bottom of the 'Messaging & Notification' pane is a check box for 'Thanks PM Notification'

Speaking of thanks, . . . , just kidding.

Re: Using the Ignore and Thanks Buttons - Curious

I use the thanks button all the time. No cost, and I know I like to get them. There are many very sharp people here who don't post often. There are also several posters who I could thank every post. Software won't let you do it however. In fact the mods thank me just slightly less than they "remind" me to be nice.

BC aka Mod Chum

Here's a pic of a certain mod at work. That's me being moderated to be nice.

Irony of ironies, being thanked for a post about the 'Thanks' button.
Appreciate it guys.

Re: Using the Ignore and Thanks Buttons - Curious

In this forum I have and hope to never use the ignore feature. I do use the thanks button when appropriate.
I need one more thanks to reach 10 then I think I get a prize

Re: Using the Ignore and Thanks Buttons - Curious

I checked my ignore list and found there is still someone on it. They haven't been on CF for a year. Guess when he found out I put him on the list it was so crushing that he went away crying.

Opps .... looks like I am a candidate to be on SS's ignore list -
But hey if us punters can't ignore mods then maybe mods can't ignore us ?????
