Need Help Updating My Publisher 2007 Web Site Using Filezilla

Help! I am attempting to update my long neglected business web site that was created using MS Publisher 2007. I have changed some of the files and saved the whole thing to a new folder on my desktop. What I need now is a hand-holding guide to using Filezilla, because no matter what I try (even though it seems like the files are being uploaded), I can't see the updated web pages on the internet. TIA.

With Filezilla there are two windows, one local, which is your computer, and the remote, which is the server where your files are.
If you upload properly, all the files you uploaded will be visible in the remote window.
So, you can see if you in fact did upload. You should also get a message confirming upload and how many files uploaded. You will have to okay overwriting files.

Your landing page, which is usually called "index.html" or something like that, should be the new one in the remote window. You can tell by the date of the file.
You might have made a mistake in your new links too.
Customer service for your web hosing service can help you.

Sent from an undisclosed location on the high seas or from the lounge chair by the pool, you decide.

To a hammer, everything looks like a nail.

Re: Need Help Updating My Publisher 2007 Web Site Using Filezilla

I'd suggest making sure your new home page file has the exact same name as the old one, probably index.htm or something along those lines. If it does have the same name and it's in the right directory it will load. Clear the cache in your browser if you're still seeing the old file or try loading the site on a different computer or phone.

FileZilla is pretty straightforward. If you think the file is in the right place it probably is.

Next step (other than call tech support for your hosting company) would be to locate the existing home page file and replace just that one file with the new one. If the correct new file then loads in your browser you're in the right place. If it doesn't you still have some figuring out to do.
