I look forward to learning what unintentional things my boat's name of Rubber Ducky means in far off places

heh, heh. Went to university with a german girl whose name was Marilyn Fick. And yes, her last name means in German what you think it does.

Worked in a bank for my first job; the accountants last name was "Crook".

There's a powerboat in our marina registered with a hailing port in Colorado, we're in California, with the name "Hoof Hearted." I snicker every time I walk by (which is often). Three year and I still laugh.

Hugh Hewitt has a little tradition that many callers begin the call with "morning glory" and he responds "evening grace."

There's a J24 in San Francisco called "Small Flying Patio Furniture". No idea what it means.

I was docked at the Chelsea Piers back in the 1990's when a big 194 foot sailing yacht docked took up the whole face dock in front of my boat (also blocked my sunset view too). Turns out it was Rupert Murdoch's yacht and it was in New York because he was going to get married on it with his 33 year old Asian fiance. The name of his yacht was "Morning Glory".

We have friends who named their boat "Happy Endings".
We also met a couple who bought their boat named "Morning Wind'

I've crewed on that boat.

The SF J24 fleet prides itself in the apparent randomness of its boat names.

Re: Unintentionally humourous vessel names

I knew a guy with an 80' wood classic powerboat named "Torchy" once. It burned to the waterline. It's why I laugh at boats with names like "Mistral", or "Stormy", or what have you. It's bad to tempt fate. There are many examples.

I get really tired of people who call themselves "Captain" and feel that engaging in Hunter-bashing makes them appear more seaworthy.

More than half you guys don't even own boats.
