Re: Ukraine Crisis

Don't need the Black Sea.

We've had three young Russian men come through the local marina here on Providenciales in highly unlikely boating scenarios in the past week. We are 150 miles from Cuba. Where a Russian spy ship just docked.

We have not seen a Russian "cruiser" here in nine years. Now three in one week, and their boat stories don't hold up.

What do you make of that?

Could you give an example of a story that doesn't hold up?

Re: Ukraine Crisis

Move along quietly now, nothing to see ( sea ) here. All over in a few days.

Oddly, One has to congratulate the ruskies on a brilliant invasion. Not a shot fired so far. No innocent victims. No bombs dropped on the wrong building. Removing the politics of the whole thing, its kind of impressive! Actually. no. Very impressive!!

Re: Ukraine Crisis

As opposed to, say, killing hundreds of thousands of people and throwing a country into chaos looking for WMD's?

Ukraine Crisis

Ukrainians and Russian do not want there to be any killing. So, while masked armed men walk around Crimea, some of the population are happy. Some are very upset. But people are intimidated.
I know of a beautiful yacht club there. One day, the owner found out that the ownership had been transferred without his knowledge to friends of the president. Its in court, but nothing will ever come of it.
Things like that are what caused the unrest. Don't believe the propaganda.
A large part of the population is brainwashed and/or does not care.Just like in any country where the media is controlled by the state.
Its all about the oligarchs, including people in power, holding and increasing their wealth.
And I would not say its over. Probably Russia's move will be to make Crimea into an "independent" country controlled by Russia. There are about 20,000 or so Tatars in Crimea. They are muslim and were all deported by Stalin decades ago, then returned after the fall of the Soviet Union. Their viewpoint is that the Russians stole their country from them. To say they hate the Russians is putting it mildly.

Yes, please. What exactly those russian "cruisers" told you that made you suspicious?

Re: Ukraine Crisis

If the Ruskies are up to anything, I'm sure the CIA knows all about it. Sure.
