Why shouldn't it if it's so good? My health insurance covers me world wide...I seriously wondering. If you are cruising and are a Canadian citizen I'm pretty sure you've paid taxes towards healthcare

My cousin in law is a builder in Illinois , I was surprised at how many houses he builds for the state , loads. I thought only this side of the pond did public housing , interesting the USA spends very similar tax amounts as EU , when you remove the military spending disparages, which , shock horror, makes the US a leftie Euro social democracy , Reagan is turning in his grave

No you don't, two parties choose who runs and you vote...if you don't like what they aren't doing you can't just simply fire them. Also a lot of positions are appointed (like Supreme Court). Come on really what can the government honestly do that private sector cannot

Seems there was a thread on this earlier. There was a Brit that said he paid about $1,500 per year for international private coverage that covered him worldwide except the US.

Re: U.S. Healthcare Pirates

Id also like to know how many of you "pro government" posters have worked for the government like I have and have seen the needless wasteful spending.

That's what I was wondering if Canadians can purchase private health insurance to cover world wide...

To answer the serious question - no. Of course not. Like in most countries, if you leave the country on a trip or cruise it's advisable to pick up travel health insurance.

So why a serious question now, after all the "no government" trolling?

Why is public housing a good thing? You obviously haven't been to public housing areas or worked in public housing areas.

I was wondering if they did. My private health insurance at $40 a month with $10 co pays and $80 in patient co pays does....

I was wondering if Canadians could purchase "travel insurance" I didn't know how that aspect worked.

I'm Canadian, living in Ontario, I once broke an arm is Quebec and they would not accept an Ontario health card. In fact they would not treat me at all unless I paid cash in advance.

A few other tidbits............

In Ontario, you will pay nothing for anything you undergo in a hospital... a pretty good deal.

Outside of the hospital is another story. My wife spent six weeks on life support two years ago and it did not cost us a cent. Since she has been out of hospital we have spent 200k on physiotherapy, aquatherapy, reflexology, massage and the biggie - drugs. In the last two years we have also paid for four emergency ambulance trips. In three years she will turn 65 and then all drugs will be paid for. By that time (at 10k per month) we will be penniless.

I have two friends who lost everything (homes, businesses) caring for their severely autistic kids.

When OHIP cards were introduced in Ontario we had a population of 11 million. The bastards produced 18 million cards. I was once offered one for 1k on the street in Buffalo, NY.

Political refugees in Canada get 100% coverage the day they arrive, including all the stuff that is not covered for citizens such as full dental, drugs, eyeglasses.

According to a newspaper article just a few weeks ago there are 4,000 Americans claiming refugee status in Ontario. The maximum Old age security and old age pension combined in Ontario is $1,600 per month. Political refugees get $2,600 a month and it averages five years to resolve their claims.

The grass is greener somewhere I'm sure.
