I look upon more like the Scandinavian model , that society as a whole must act as a community. Hence the poor cant be allowed to be too poor nor the rich allowed to be too rich. Taxes get used to shuffle around the stuff. Society accepts the compromise for the greater good.
Yes there are freeloaders , but that doesn't negate the
concept.
Equally these countries seem to enjoy a very high standard of living , I mean
Norway is above the US. Etc I'm sure they all have issues, but it seems to
work reasonably well
France is. Real eye opener , really good public healthcare , top class hospitals , world class outcomes , 70 % of coats funded by the public purse , you and the employer pay via social
insurance payments , salary deductions , then you take out
cheap top -up
insurance to cover the 30%
In case your wondering , I've been in hospitals in
Ireland , UK,
Germany and
France. Thank god never in the US when I lived there. I was always staggered by
medical costs there , nothing seemed to compare.
An uncle of my wife, whose
family are in the US who is from Birmingham ( the real one ) , forgot some years ago to buy his travel insurance at Birmingham
airport ( because why would anyone in the UK have
health cover) and had a heart attack in the US , his
family there got a bill for $50,000, it nearly bankrupted their business, I mean bankrupting people for
medical bills , that's just nuts.
