Try using AIS or radar here. Sail 2015

Recently there was an event in Amsterdam called Sail 2015. Something like 800 vessels traveled down the canal.

Just imagine if every vessel was carrying an AIS transponder

There must have been a few collisions there.

Not a good place to loose your propulsion. I definitely would have had my radar and AIS turned off.
