Things I learned working on boats

My first summer as a deckhand on a Coast Guard boat the Bosun's mate said to me:

"If it's not moving, paint it. If it's moving, paint it till it stops moving".
Yours Aye! Rick
"It's not the boat "you built" until you've sworn at it, bled on it, sweated over it, cried beside it and then threatened to haul the POS outside and burn it!"

"Its the motion of the ocean..."

"Pee, puke, and toss it to leeward, never to windward"

"Sailors sit while at sea" (do not piss in the head while standing up)
Ahoy All Sailors! I love traditional sailboats of all kinds (e.g. gaff rigged, schooners, cutters, smacks, woodies, etc.). See my CF Profile "About Me" page for details.
